Summary of Script:
Based on the 2010 Fox Searchlight film JUST WRIGHT, this series
adaptation chronicles the plight of physical therapist Leslie Wright
as she struggles to navigate her personal and professional lives in
the world of basketball. In the pilot episode Leslie is fired from her
job as Chief Physical Therapist of the largest physical therapy clinic
in the state before she has a chance to expose her boss Hassan for
embezzlement. What's more is her best friend, who works there too, is
given her position. Another friend and colleague of hers is also fired
because it’s discovered that she was aiding Leslie in her
investigation of their employer. As they discuss the potential closing
of the family business, Leslie lies to her father about losing her job
and instead urges him to ask Hassan, who’s also a friend of her
father’s, for help to save the store.

Still wanting to see her favorite NBA star Scott McKnight play, Leslie
meets her godsister Morgan and her friends at a Brooklyn Nets game
later that night, despite having to endure their catty comments.
However, Scott spends the game benched and leaves early. When Leslie
gets a text from her fellow fired colleague, she leaves as well.
Leslie’s former co-worker shows her a video of Leslie and Hassan
kissing, which she is warned will be used as blackmail if her friend
doesn’t follow his orders and leave town for good. Both exhausted by
terrible evenings, Leslie and Scott wind up meeting each other at a
nearby gas station. After shooing away an annoying fan, Scott and
Leslie enjoy each other’s company sitting in his luxury car. Scott
vents about the growing tension between himself, his agent, and his
team following a violent obstruction of his at the last Nets game as
well as his involvement in local activism. The episode ends with
Hassan reading an article about Scott’s recent donation to
Leslie’s father’s shop and later revealing a video of Leslie and
the other woman he fired kissing.
