Imagine a scenario where a teenage boy's compassion shines through for a religious community that was forgotten, transforming a neglected graveyard into a place of beauty and solace. That's the heartwarming story we captured in our documentary: The Lost Jews of Pakistan. It's a tale that will inspire audiences and remind them of the incredible power of unifying religions while honoring our ancestors.
Our film centers around Zeineddine, a fifteen-year-old Muslim teenager with a deep respect for different cultures who travels to Karachi every year with his family. While visiting last December, they ventured into the dangerous part of the city where one of the largest graveyards is. That’s when he noticed part of the cemetery that has been abandoned for decades. Where the Jewish community had their final resting place, but nothing was peaceful about it anymore.
Through interviews with Zeineddine, we delve into the personal challenges, triumphs, and growth he experiences throughout this project. As the documentary unfolds, viewers will enjoy the before and after archival footage of the Jewish gravesite, with some shocking discoveries along the way.
