Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?: A love for comedy, and in this case, the chance to combine verbal comedy with mime and a bit of added slapstick.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film? I wrote it the day the idea hit me and filmed it in half a day some time later after gathering my cast.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!? Chaplinesque comedy.
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film? Finding a cafe that would let me shoot it- businesses are very risk-averse and Cesar Portillo of the Empire Cafe was, thankfully, most accommodating.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video? Just delighted. I only wish there had been more time allotted so the actors could have gotten more kudos.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films? Many, many years ago, just watching great comedies in the theaters.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life? Either The Third Man or The 39 Steps.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career? Listing Scriptsmith Filmworks and my contact info(also at IMDB) to prospective producers re my available feature screenplays. That and anything to spread the word about my projects.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site? It is very user-friendly.
10. What is your favorite meal? Veal parmesan.
11. What is next for you? A new film? In December, I am shooting the Sci-Fi short comedy, The Problem With Moon Men, a hilarious table-reading having been done by Wildsound Festival that they posted to Youtube, and To Die Laughing and The Big Tipper are next on deck. I need to find a producer for some of my great feature comedies that I cannot do on my own.
