The Dominican order has requested a special computer from an engineering laboratory capable of solving a complex algorithm, but only the monks know its real purpose. Caterina, a young researcher, is thus sent from the laboratory to the Dominican abbey with the task of supervising the functioning of the machine. A task that will forever mark his destiny and that of all humanity.

Interview with filmmaker Renato Paone:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

The need to ask myself questions in an era that lives on answers alone. A bit like Caterina, the protagonist of the short. I needed to share these questions with other people, and then explore the possible answers that would arise from the mind of each viewer. I think it's the most important part of this project, feeding a brain work from which everyday life distracts us.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

From when we had the idea to when we completed it, exactly one year of work, a very intense year. But that has given us immense satisfaction.

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Mystical and mysterious

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

Making a screenplay capable of providing as many elements as possible to the viewer so that he could formulate his own idea without being conditioned by mine. And, more concretely, the search for funds.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

I immersed myself in their responses, and enjoyed hearing from their live voices the different interpretations they gave of the same story. An immense satisfaction.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

I never realized the idea of wanting to make films, I just always liked to tell stories. Films are a way of conveying a story with a powerful combination of different languages, such as images, sounds and music. Perhaps it is precisely this combination of different languages that led me to want to make a film.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

"Once upon a time in America" by Sergio Leone. And any film shot by Christopher Nolan.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

Probably the ability to create as many connections as possible between the various directors, filmmakers and other insiders.

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

The platform is simple and intuitive. And extremely effective.

10. What is your favorite meal?

I eat everything. But don't give me vegetables.

11. What is next for you? A new film?

Now I would like to go back to work on a documentary, my first love. But at the same time I'm preparing a new original story for a project that I hope willbecome a film in the near future. For now I'm happy to live day after day, we'll see for the rest!
