Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
The motivation for this film came from a telephone conversation I had with Liana Zhou, Head of Collections at The Kinsey Institute. We were talking about discrimination and how so many people are stigmatized because of superficial factors when we both agreed that basically all people are the same!
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
About 10 months
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Equal Rights
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Making sure we were all inclusive.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
The feedback film made me proud and feel it was worth the work!
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
When I was a school teacher in the 1970's and saw there were things I wanted said and there were no resources.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
The documentary TRANS.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
Make screening available to the general public.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
FilmFreeway made things fast and easy!
10. What is your favorite meal?
I have a passion for seafood.
11. What is next for you? A new film?
I would like to do a film about Dr. Harry Benjamin, the endocrinologist who wrote The Transsexual Phenomenon in 1966.
