Gambia Untitled tells the story of a "has been" director, Ross, (think Jon Hamm) who can't get another movie to direct until he gets a call from a producer in The Gambia, Africa. This producer wants him to film a movie there but has to teach the locals how to make movies. Ross gathers those willing to go (knowing the reputation of The Gambia), a group of misfits, including a female 1st AD whom upon returning to the US realizes is his person. At first this project is beneath him until he comes to know the people of The Gambia. A small boy of the streets (7 years old) befriends the director and shadows him, and whom Ross spills all his worries and frustrations to.

As the story progresses, Ross begins to appreciates the teamwork of the group of misfits he has brought here and the local group of people who are happy to be here. The Gambian President turns out to be the producer (Gambian presidents have been know in the past to be very dangerous) who is misunderstood because of his father, the past president. He is also in love with a local beautiful woman who is the lover of movies and is why the president has created this project. Through this dangerous misunderstanding, there is comedy when things happen that seem dangerous but end up not. One being this president is only a man in love.

In the end, Ross learns what is important, creates his comedy but also wins an award for the documentary he creates about the Gambian movie makers. The two men, Ross and The Gambian President, turn out to be similar in power and change throughout the movie.
