In Traces a winter tree serves as a motif for the exploration of memory and abstraction. Shot with a vintage black-and-white DV camera, the footage gradually disintegrates as the the camera slowly revolves around the tree. A stark shadow-like graphic overlay layers and partially obfuscates the imagery. Birds in slow motion flight punctuate the image flow and merge with an ominous, minimalist score to form a striking audio-visual reflection on the passage of time.
