Get to know filmmaker Gabriel Panazio:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

The main motivation was to create a character-based film that draws attention to the issue of nature and the future of the planet. To bring a sensitive perspective on the impact of our actions as a society and the effect they have on many people's lives.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

It took 6 months between the idea, research, filming, and finalization

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Painfully powerful.

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

The search for the right character was the biggest challenge. Having someone who not only had a good story but could also convey the necessary feeling for the film to have a powerful message.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

Initially, embarrassment. It's very difficult to see your work being evaluated, especially when we live in a world that, despite bringing a lot of connection, also somewhat distances and disconnects us from the viewers of our work. But having overcome that, it was very important and I was very happy to see that the film's message was fully understood and that it reached an audience we never expected when we decided to make the film.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

In my first year of college, I realized that this was the path for my life. I was studying a course called radio and TV. I was already in the media sector, but the following year I switched to film school and that has been my life for the last 15 years.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

Home Alone or Ducktales. Hahaha. But as an adult, definitely Magnolia by Paul Thomas Anderson.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

This is one of the coolest festivals I've ever attended, I really liked all the dynamics offered. The only thing I would like to experience would be in-person activities.

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

Everything has been perfect. I really like the website experience.

10. What is your favorite meal?

Definitely barbecue. I even like the American one. Haha.

11. What is next for you? A new film?

Yes, always! I'm switching gears to fiction and my next project will be a single-shot short film.
