Winner of 2020’s Flight Deck’s Best Feature Length Screenplay
By Stephen John Beyer
"McLucky’s St. Paddy’s Day Bar Crawl" is about Connor who hopes to win back his one true love Tiffany as he hosts a traditional St. Patrick's Day Bar Crawl Competition. Connor also struggles with the loss of his good friend Eddy and time lost among best of friends, which Connor plans to redeem all by reminiscing from pub to pub. During the competition, Tiffany and Connor’s friends not only compete but participate by handing out St. Patrick’s Day party favors such as scarves, derby hats, and shamrocks to
the crowd. Unfortunately, the crawl starts off on the wrong foot at Traditions Pub when Connor’s good friend Liam enters. Liam competes as a competing host who gives Connor a dose of his own medicine for
the remaining of the evening.
Shortly after arriving at Tipsy’s Tavern, Tiffany gets upset with Connor when he asks about Avril’s whereabouts. Avril who is an Irish step dancer Connor spent a one-night stand with prior, becomes a romantic rival that adds to the mix. The evening continues to fall apart as Tiffany explains to Connor how she is worried about her youngest daughter’s well-being. Connor consoles Tiffany and she does not accept his affection due to a lack of in the past. Before leaving Tipsy's, all participate in an intense
centerpiece of Irish Bowling which Liam's team wins by one point. As Connor leaves Tipys’s, a flashback ensues to New Year Day twenty years earlier at the same doorway as Connor, Liam, and Eddy exit. All three reminisce on the year past and make New Year Resolutions including Eddy’s to adopt a family and tells Connor and Liam, “Resolutions or goals can create opportunities. If be, love, career choices, or family. And when the time is right, you must seize the moment!”
At the following pub Shenanigans, Connor and Tiffany talk about their past and start to reconcile but Connor trips up on his own words as Avril enters, and Tiffany leaves upset. Connor, Liam, Avril, and others all square off on the dance floor with a climatic step dancing contest before heading out to the last bar of the crawl, Mulligans Pub. Now, with time running out, Connor's faith must guide him to seize the moment and redeem himself with Tiffany and friends alike before he reveals his ultimate plan to buy
Mulligans and turn Mulligans into a place where he and his good friends; all united again, can work, own, hang out, and rename the pub Eddy’s after their late friend. Or if Connor does not make amends, he may lose his one true love and friends forever.
