Two "creatures of the night" discover one of their own kind. Or have they?

Get to know the filmmaker:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

This film is a proof of concept for a feature film called "Ackerman & Associates Meet Dracula" about a pair of realtors who unknowingly sell a house to Dracula. The feature is set in LA, though we shot this short in NY, because that's where I live! But I did live in LA for a long time. The short is essentially a scene from the film. I can elaborate on this on the podcast.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

Hard to say. It went by so fast. Probably less than a year between writing the script and completing the film.

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Mistaken Identity.

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

Probably bringing myself to spend the money on it. I financed this with some money I made from a screenplay I was paid to write.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

I was extremely touched and very gratified that they got what I was going for. You have a very astute audience. They obviously know film.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

I studied film in high school, so most of my life really, sice I was about 17 or so.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

Probably the original "Rocky". It's my favorite film. A wonderful little indie, though we don't tend to think of it in those terms, and a great love story, though we don't tend to think of it in those terms either. And I love the essence of it. This idea of seeing what you are capable of.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

I am so new to this particular fest, but so far I really like what I see. I think the exposure aspect of it is great. And I think live events are always great, parties or get togethers where the film makers can mingle. This is always a good thing. This business is so relationship-oriented. We need to meet each other, now more than ever. Need to get in the room together.

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

I love them, have had nothing but good experiences with them so far.

10. What is your favorite meal?

Spaghetti and meatballs.

11. What is next for you? A new film?

Yes, the feature film this short is a proof of concept for, "Ackerman & Associates Meet Dracula." I'll be putting together a pitch deck soon.
