Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
I made this film as my thesis. I wanted to tell a story about the healing and strength that occurs after a trauma. As a survivor myself this story was very close to home, and it allowed me to come to terms with a lot of things in my life. I found that a child has more strength than a hundred men, but we often overlook that.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
It took about three years from start to finish.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Heroic journey
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
We never showed what happened to the children so showing that through other forms was a big obstacle because we wanted to make sure people understood without having to see it.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
I was very appreciative of the words spoken in all of the videos. It meant a lot and I really enjoyed seeing that what we wanted to show was accomplished.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
When I was in middle-school Pirates of the Caribbean came out and I was able to find the script online. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world to have a script in my hands. It was at that time that I started writing my own scripts.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Wind River
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
Industry networking is always something I'm interested in.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
Very good.
10. What is your favorite meal?
Cheeseburgers
11. What is next for you? A new film?
I am directing a film in September called "Come Out Wherever You Are" and then starting on my first feature film called "Tracing Fog."
