B-Side Players Revolutionize, 6min., USA
Directed by Sammy Garcia III
This is a heartfelt tribute to the elders who paved the way for us. A tribute to the activists, writers, photographers, and everyday heroes of the 60s and 70s who fought tirelessly for our rights and our right to proudly call ourselves Chicano. From prominent leaders like Carlos Montes to the voices behind La Raza newspapers, from the Brown Berets who stood on the frontlines to people like my dad, who was inspired by the music, his own experiences, and whose everyday struggles and triumphs were just as powerful, this is a thank you.
Forest, 4min,. USA
Directed by Sasha Myshkina
A young woman wakes up on a train going to an unknown destination. She has no recollection of how she got there or where she is. She finds herself in a vast city; a forest of steel and iron and concrete, wandering the dark streets.
