A neo-noir dramedy about a desperate man past his prime who has a chance encounter with an unhappily married woman at a bar. Director Statement
Counterfeit has been a labor of love for almost 3 years now. 18 months in preproduction that involved a long search for my male lead, several crew turnover and COVID!! Despite the budget, I could only afford 2 days of production which resulted in 28 unique shots captured in a single day. We had a lot to get done in a short amount of time, and compromises had to be made.

Then it's been 15 months of post for me. I edited and color-corrected the picture along with editing and mixing the audio.

This was a unique story and one I'd call a "slow burn reveal" that could've been a companion piece on something like "Bad Times at the El Royale."

I truly hope you enjoy this film and consider adding it to your festival lineup. (I'd recommend viewing in 4K for optimal viewing enjoyment.) I'm able to provide a DCP for presentation, upon request.
