Seunghoon-eun is deeply fighting for the philosophy that his mother, Kim Han-ok, suffered from hypoglycemia. The director directed the film for 10 years. He was also in charge of the older brother, and he must have been old this year. As I became close with him, my parents' life was peaceful.
The first destination of the hanok is the house of the first daughter, Ae-ran, who lives in Busan. Ae-ran hated herself and married her mother, who lived only through sacrifice, and unfortunately, the marriage did not go smoothly. However, Ae-ran decides not to divorce because it is her decision, and she suddenly realizes after living for several decades. That her life resembled the life of her mother, who she wanted to run away from. Hanok was concerned that Ae-ran couldn't afford a blanket when Ae-ran started her own house, but now she is happy to be able to present it with a warm blanket.
The second destination of hanok is Icheon, Gyeonggi-do. There, twin daughters Kyung-hee and Myung-hee are waiting for a hanok. The hanok asks them what to do, so that they can show the frugality of a mother to their children, asking for an exhausted bankbook, having a feast or a stay together, or a hanok that wants to give a luxurious gift, they only want things that are not good. .
Not to mention, Kyung-hee and Myung-hee love their mother Hanok terribly. Hanok kept the twins as she endured the accusation of her aunt telling her to adopt one of them, saying that she gave birth to twins when she was married. Kyung-hee and Myung-hee also complain about whether they know him or what their mother has done for us, but they always buy shoes and clothes, and Kyung-hee and Myung-hee are the best so far.
Mi-ja, the first daughter-in-law, visits Hanok when she returns home. Even after the death of her husband, Mi-ja takes care of her mother-in-law. Mi-ja suggests living together in a hanok, whose energy is gradually declining, but the hanok refuses, saying that she does not want to be a nuisance because she is old. Mi-ja came in as the daughter-in-law of the family once, so she just did everything she had to do until the end.
After returning from all the journey, Hanok has a party with all the family and goes to the riverside to play. Everyone is having a good time, but only the hanok reminds me of my mother when I see the river. Hanok, who lived separately from her mother when she was young, left the house on the news that her mother had passed away, but because of the rainy season, the river blew and she could not go to the funeral. Hanok, born in 1938, still becomes a child just thinking about her mother.

2010년 단편 영화제에서 감독상을 받고 부상으로 카메라를 생겼다. 이제 까지 나는 역사에 관한 시나리오를 썼는데 정작 내 가족에 대한 것은 잘 알지 못한다는
생각을 했다. 그래 카메라로 나의 가족들을 담기로 했고 우리 가족들이 어떻게 살아가고 있나
알아보기로 했다. 영화는 있는 그대로의 사실을 담는 사진성에 그 본질이 있다.
In 2010, I won the Best Director Award at the Short Film Festival and received a camera as a reward. I wrote a script about Korean history but I didn't know about my family's history. So I decided to take a film about how our family lived their lives. I believe Film has its essence in photography that captures the facts as they are.
2. 아이디어에서 완제품까지, 이 영화를 만드는 데 얼마나 걸렸나요?
2010년부터 기획을 하였고 2022년 ‘38 년 생 김한옥’작품을 만들었으니 12년이 걸렸다. 작품을 완성하고 어머니께 보여드렸고 2022년 10월에 어머니가 돌아가셨다. 난 어머니의 마지막 가시는 길을 카메라에 담았다.
The project started in 2010. We completed the work in 2022, so it took 12 years. I showed my mother the final version, and she passed away on October, 2022 I captured my mother's verge of her death on my camera

4. 이 영화를 완성하는 데 직면한 가장 큰 장애물은 무엇이었나요?
가족들의 아픔 상처를 드러낼 수 밖에 없었다. 그래 감독으로서 주저했는데 어머니, 형수, 누
나 그리고 여동생들이 여성으로서 감내해야하는 상처는 있었으나 이겨냈으니 당당하게 표현하
자고 했다. 그런 것이 어렵고 고마운 일이다.
I had no choice but to reveal the pain and wounds of my family. I hesitated as a director, but my mother, sister-in-law, and sisters said, ‘ even though our life had so many scars, as we endured a life as a woman, we overcame it, so we are proud of it to show them.' I really thank them, since I know how hard it is.

무엇이었나요?
나의 어머니는 이름조차 불리지 못한 분이다. 배움도 없다. 자식들이 기억하지 않은 한 누구
도 기억하지 않았을 것이다. 그런데 피드백에서 나의 어머니의 이름이 불리워졌을 때 나도 모
르게 눈물을 흘렸다. 감사할 따름이다.
My mother was called mother, daughter-in-law but not by her name. ‘Han-ok Kim.' If her kids don't remember her, no one will remember her. But because of the film, people from abroad called and remembered my mother's name. It was really touching.
6. 영화를 만들고 싶다는 것을 언제 깨달았나요?
나는 영화 전공을 하였다. 1985년부터 영화 감독의 꿈을 키웠다. 그러는 사이 영화란 무엇인
가 자문하였고 영화는 기록이 본질임을 알게 되었다. ‘38년 김한옥’을 만들게 되었다.
I majored in film. I have dreamed of becoming a movie director since 1985. As time went by, I asked myself ‘what is a film.'? And I realize the essence of a film is record to remember.
7. 인생에서 가장 많이 본 영화는 무엇인가요?
안드레이 타르코프스기, 구로사와 아끼라, 페데리코 페리니 등 위대한 영혼들의 작품이다.
I watched Andrei Tarkovsky, Federico Fellini, Akira Kurosawa the great soul’s movies.

른 요소는 무엇입니까?
예술이라는 것은 서로의 다른 점을 이해하는 인간의 노력이라고 여겨진다. 이번 경험을 통하
여 서로의 문화가 다르지만 인간적인 본질은 같은 것은 아닌가 하는 실제적인 체험을 하였다.
Art is considered a human effort to understand each other's differences. Through this experience, I had a practical experience that although each other's cultures are different, human nature is the same.

알게되었다.
People say it's a global village, but it was hard to experience it. But through this experience, I realized that the Republic of Korea, where I live, belongs to a global village and I'm bonded with people from other countries.

어머니가 해준 된장찌개다.
