This short film is an adaption of the performance Animale (choreography by Lisie Philip, music by Laurent Tamagno). It was produced for an event in the MAMAC (the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Nice) called “la Nuit des Musées” in 2017. I perceived the show as a celebration of the vitality of the body which is hunted and cornered but also resistant and pugnacious. The ardour and youthness of the tense muscles reminded me of creepers around a tree. I admired the transcendental beauty of the protean animality, oscillating between a quadruped, a reptile and a bird. I wanted to confront, as a last hunt, this body to young to die to the cold beauty of the cutting room of the old slaughterhouse of Nice.
