Get to know the filmmaker:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

What pushed me to make this film was the idea of proximity. During the pandemic I felt like it was super hard to find a balance of space and time. And I really wanted to put an emphasis on that. Connections don't stop at the physical. The expand over differing elements.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

It took about eight months. The idea was hard to put on paper because I was so caught up with everything being as natural as possible. The script became a sort of guideline. It was important to let the actors play in the context they felt was true.

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Hopeful. Blissful.

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

My own doubt was that I wouldn't like the outcome. It was also filmed completely online, so finding a screen recorder that was trustworthy and clear was very important.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

I was confused at first, honestly. My brain hadn't processed that these people were talking about my film. They were discussing something that I had been discussing with myself for months. After I broke that barrier down, I cried like a baby.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

I was around twelve. I loved going to the theaters and found escapism in moving pictures. Plotting ideas, and seeing them in real time was the ultimate satisfaction for me.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

Oh, this is a hard one. I would have to say 'Shark Boy, and Lava Girl'. It's a childhood favorite. And as I grow older I start to see the deeper elements that went into the movie.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

I am honestly satisfied with everything that has been done so far. I really appreciate your team, and what you guys do. Just being kind, and listening to directors goes really far. Thank you !

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

I love FilmFreeway. It's the only platform that I have worked with. Everything is so simply displayed. There are also many great resources throughout the site.

10. What is your favorite meal?

A bowl of mac and cheese and bread to dip.

11. What is next for you? A new film?

I am writing several different scripts and sending a few to production companies. The next film I am working on is actually a stop motion. It's something that I am really excited about, with hopes of it coming out in late 2023 !
