ACTION
A boy runs for his life, but gets the upper hand on his pursuer, in a very dark way.
CAST LIST:
Narrator: Val Cole
Get to know the writer:
1. What is your screenplay about?
A man jumped out of a car and chased me when I was a kid. Spoiler alert: I got away. (I'm a fast runner!) I wrote this to finally "flip the script" on that long-ago experience.
2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?
Suspense? Psych horror?
3. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
Because it's simple, has no dialog, and can be shot in 2-3 hours. I plan to shoot it myself.
4. How would you describe this script in two words?
Poetic justice.
5. What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
Casablanca? 2001? The Abyss? It's a Wonderful Life? Not sure.
6. How long have you been working on this screenplay?
It was a one-day effort. Plus a quick edit before submitting.
7. How many stories have you written?
Five features and 8 or 9 shorts.
8. What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the
most times in your life?)
At one time it was kd lang's Constant Craving. But over time, it's really Bach's Praeludium in E, from the violin partita, and all the remixes thereof, over the centuries.
9. What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
Digging into my own childhood.
10. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Well there's that climate change thing. :-( On a more optimistic note: filmmaking. (I've made four shorts now.) Renewable energy. Red wine. Tennis. Biking.
11. You entered your screenplay via FilmFreeway. What has been your
experiences working with the submission platform site?
Technically, it works really well. My wife has nothing like it for submitting her manuscripts. (She's a published novelist.) But there's a problem separating the legit festivals from the "virtual" festivals that have nothing to do with the cities they're named for. They seem scammy.
12. What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings
on the initial feedback you received?
What a fun idea. The festival's pitch to me was for a one-page screenplay, which I had ready and waiting (after the quick pre-submission edit I mentioned above). So I pitched my screenplay to them. How cool is that?!
