Director Statement
As the film is driven by a female and a trans female and explores themes of sexual violence, we felt it very important to have broad representation and crew with great sensitivity on set. The writer of the film is also black and non-binary. She was present on set with us. Our DP is female and paid great attention to getting women on her crew. We reached out to the trans community as we felt it extremely important for our trans character to be portrayed by a trans woman. We had a trans male, one of the first female NYC firefighters, as our firefighter advisor to the film. He was on set with us and we worked with him extensively to stay true to a female firefighter's experience.
