UNVEILED, 3min,. Netherlands
Directed by Fynn Isar Roovers
“UNVEILED” is a mesmerizing dance film that follows a young woman as she runs through the woods, through her movements, she faces or flees from her fears, blurring reality and imagination. The film is accompanied by an original sound score of contemporary violin and cello music, enhancing the experience with haunting melodies and rhythms.

1. What motivated you to make this film?
It started with a walk in the forest in The Netherlands, and visions came to my partner Fynn about a woman in a wedding dress running through the woods. We wanted to tell a story about someone who is running from and running towards something at the same time. That could be running from a commitment, a choice, decision, possibilities and fate.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for
you to make this film? It started in Jan 2021 and we finished editing and the final film July 2023
3. How would you describe your film in two words!? Lost dreams
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film? Covid and a Breakup
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience
talking about your film in the feedback video? It was very inspiring and touching to finally have some authentic audience feedback from people we did not know and from varying cultures and backgrounds. It made us realize how this film can touch people in such different ways.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films? Fynn has been making films since he was 15 years old, also for television. Myself; as a dancer I only became interested in films since meeting Fynn seven years ago and really got invested during Covid times because it pushed artists to think more hybrid and be creative in how they were creating and producing work. I then got support from Amsterdam Funds for the Arts to study part-time film whilst still working as a dancer.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life? I dont have one that springs to mind but one that I will watch over and over is 'Past Lives' by Celine Song.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other
festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your
filmmaking career? At this moment I have invested a lot of money into film festivals without any financial return. Cash awards and recognition in the way of physical opportunities would be great.
9. You submitted to the festival via Film Freeway. How has your
experiences been working on the festival platform site? Same answer as above
10. What is your favorite meal? Saag Paneer
11. What is next for you? A new film? Dancing full-time in Germany and producing dance films on the side under my collective IN Dance Co. Who knows what the future will bring but I hope to continue living a creative life and inspiring other dancers to cross over into other mediums to expand their horizons, job opportunities and creative methods.
