Interview with filmmaker Jack Schwitz:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
After Wade contacted us and explained what he was facing there was no turning back. It was an immediate yes.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
The film took one year from the idea through the final edit.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Informative & thought provoking.
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Editing this film was the greatest challenge. At this point I was pouring over the raw footage and understanding, as best I could, the scope of what he was facing on a daily basis and it became crushingly depressing to work on. Knowing he could die before we even wrap the project.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
It was incredible to see that people "got it" of course we get it since we are so close to the project but seeing that someone removed from the film can see it as well, was amazing.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
From the moment Wade called our studio and explained what he wanted to do.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Tie between Spaceballs and Coming to America.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
The whole experience has been great. And since this is all new to us... I"ll have to get back to you.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
I did not know it existed prior to this film and using the service is amazing. Having everything in one place is just incredible.
10. What is your favorite meal?
anything breakfast related.
11. What is next for you? A new film?
Maybe another Doc? Maybe a narrative project...
