“Scapegoat Vengeance” is a brief surreal adventure based on synesthetic elements. I assembled footage and images captured in random moments, mostly while traveling, and cut those to an original piece of mine. Some of the sounds featured in the composition are also taken from street recordings, and manipulated to fit the track.

Get to know the filmmaker:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

"Scapegoat Vengeance" is part of my audio-visual journey where I put together images I collect from everyday experiences and then link those to music. In this specific case, when I felt like I had enough material to complete a video, I start the procedure.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

Hard to tell for sure, as the image and video gathering happens at random times: when I come across something that catches my attention, I film it, hoping that I can use it in the near future.
The music is a big part of it, too. When I feel like I can associate sound elements with visual ones, I start assembling. For this project, maybe the final part took about a month, on and off.

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Synesthetic trip.

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

When I go fishing in my video folder, I always wish I had longer footage and cleaner shots.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

I was very interested to hear how they perceived my work. It's the kind of stuff that leaves a lot to the imagination, so it's great to get direct feedback like that.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

About 7-8 years ago, when I realized that no one was going to make my vision come to life, so I started editing my first video to the music.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

2001 A Space Odissey, Bladerunner, Blow Up.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

The audience feedback sounds like a great idea to me!

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

Good, I use FilmFreeway all the time because it seems to offer many choices and it is easy to navigate.

10. What is your favorite meal?

Authentic sushi and authentic Italian cuisine.

11. What is next for you? A new film?

I have been gathering more images and more music ideas, and I am sure that at some point they will come together in a new movie!
