Director Statement
Lollipop Cowboy is a film that is about being a little lost along the way. It deals with the struggle of depression in a minuscule scope (day to day). Depression isn’t racist, sexist, nor does it have a bias towards wealth.
I believe we will all experience a form of depression. Now many might not have a crippling
form, but the film is about making sure tomorrow is okay. Colby’s exterior much like Cowboy’s doesn’t represent who she is. The glitter of a princess hides that she too is in a moment in her life where she is struggling. It’s about two twenty somethings not sure what will come next in their lives and how they deal with it individually.
For me, it was a catharsis of the anxiety and depression I have faced with getting older and feeling left behind in comparison to friends and family of the same age.
