Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
I drew inspiration from a YouTube series called Honest Trailers, particularly the episode reviewing the video game Five Nights at Freddy's. The Narrator gripes about the constant use of jump scares in horror films and games as a cheap trick. I wrote a short script, then my friend Bryan Cosgriff and I rewrote it into its final draft.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
With all of our schedules being affected by Covid-19 and other events, it took as about a year to make this film. Some weeknight, Bryan and I would stay up late editing the fine details.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Paranormal Parody
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
The availability of everyone who worked on this film. We all have busy lives, especially after the events of the last few years.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
I felt absolutely humbled! I loved how they picked up on every little detail, from the narrator voice to the quick edits that made characters disappear.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
Probably when I was in High School. I was involved in theater and found my way into the AV lab, making short films for class projects.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
The Blues Brothers. When you see a blockbuster film that was filmed where you live, it makes you think anything is possible.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
Showing our work to talent agencies and others in the business would be great! We would love to get noticed by the big names in Hollywood.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
It was a well-oiled machine! The submission process was smooth and easy to add posters and stills to promote out projects.
10. What is your favorite meal?
I'm a bit of a foodie, so this changes on cravings. I love curry. I also like a good noodle dish.
11. What is next for you? A new film?
Absolutely a new film! We have some scripts we are fine tuning before we begin filming, again.
