Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
My motivation for making this film is a couple of things. Along with my passion to create dance on film, you could say I am a bit of an environmentalist. My goal is to get people to continue thinking of our global crisis dealing with climate change, and how we can all do our part, however small, to better our planet.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
I actually first created this as a live performance piece, back in 2022. From the initial idea, to rehearsals and the show, and then the transformation to film.... about a year and a half.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
The title - Filtered Futures
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
I would say the biggest obstacle in making this film was trying to create it on a tight budget.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
My initial reaction to the audience feedback was that of gratitude and joy! It was so nice to hear such positive feedback from complete strangers!
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
I've always had an interest in making dance films - I grew up surrounded by media arts, with my dad being a photographer/videographer/multi-media producer and my mom a graphic artist/photographer. When CoVid hit, the only way to express my craft was through film. So I guess that's when I really focused on making film.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Probably the Star Wars franchise. I can watch them repeatedly.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
Right now, honestly what you are already doing! And I guess social media plugs can never hurt!
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
I love using Film Freeway! It's very user friendly.
10. What is your favorite meal?
My fave meal would have to be pasta
11. What is next for you? A new film?
Next up for CollabArt Creations is another live performance show, collaborating with 8 different choreographers, showcasing contemporary works between 5-10 min in length.
