Director Statement
I used to direct Tasty videos. We'd have to do about 16 in one day, so naturally, my DP (Tehillah De Castro) was very bored. To entertain her, I used to put on plays with my hands. That bit eventually evolved into this short.
We made this for $600 in 4 hours. I directed and shot it like a play, so we spend most of the time rehearsing with one take for each section (4 sections). Had we messed up one of the sections, we would have had to restart from the beginning. Somehow, we did it in one foul swoop.
Remains a favorite because of how intimate the crew was and how much fun we had trying to pull off the concept.
Shot it on an A7s with an attached mic to keep the scenario realistic to what an amateur vlogger may have. Anything too high-budget would have ironically cheapened the concept. Wanted this to feel as sincere to the actual situation as possible.
