Director Statement
An Open Letter is a short film investigating family relationships and dependency. Loosely inspired by Charlie Chaplin's autobiography, we look at what it means to be family and the dynamic that losing a parent creates between siblings. It's a story and relationship I'd love to develop further and expand on in the future.
A key element of my film is perspective. A character who at first seems cold-hearted and selfish can be sympathized with when you understand the context for their actions.
I hope my film makes people think about their relationships, healthy and unhealthy, and consider how they can be there for those they love.
