Get to know the screenwriter:
1. What is your screenplay about?
Blood Money is about a man pushed to the limits of desperation, and the lines he crosses that he thought he never would when the right amount of money is offered to him.
2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?
First and foremost Blood Money is a comedy, but it also falls into the action/crime/thriller genre.
3. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
This screenplay is crying out to be made into a movie because it tells a real human story about a man struggling with addiction while woven into a fun genre flick that audiences can eat popcorn to and enjoy.
4. How would you describe this script in two words?
British Scarface.
5. What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
Shaun Of The Dead
6. How long have you been working on this screenplay?
I've been working on this screenplay for about 4 months, on and off.
7. How many stories have you written?
I've been writing and conjuring up stories for as long as I can remember, at least since I was about 7 or 8 years old.
8. What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)
I listen to a lot of Eminem to inspire me to write, especially Stan. In the last couple years, Inside by Bo Burnham has been a massive influence on me.
9. What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
It took a long time to get the story beats right, figuring out what should happen and when, a lot of trial and error. There were several ideas that ended up on the cutting room floor that might reappear in future drafts of the script.
10. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
I love all aspects of filmmaking, directing, acting, producing etc. However, in the last few years I've had the most success as a writer and that will always be at the forefront of what I do.
11. You entered your screenplay via FilmFreeway. What has been your experiences working with the submission platform site?
Filmfreeway has been an absolute goldmine for my career. It's put me in contact with people I never would have met otherwise and helped me projects reach a wider variety of platforms.
12. What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?
I wanted to enter the festival on the basis that my screenplay would receive the feedback it needed at that early stage. The feedback was greatly appreciated and needed. What happened after has surpassed all of my expectations. The fact that I wrote a script in my bedroom that just a few months later is being read out by professional voice actors in LA is astounding to me.
